Using Allura for monograms
Allura is the most restrained of the formal scripts: modest tails and clear letterforms, so initials like I, J and T stay recognisable. It is a good default when the person receiving the gift may not be used to reading script.
Formal scripts are the traditional choice for wedding monograms, vine monograms, towels and stationery. The initials are usually set with the surname initial larger in the centre, without a frame or with a thin circle. Script fonts have thin joining strokes, so they need size: 3 to 4 inches in adhesive vinyl, 4 to 5 inches in heat-transfer vinyl, and 2.5 inches or more for satin-stitch embroidery. Weed the hairlines last, with a fine hook, and use a strong transfer tape.
For the name in a split monogram or the date under a wedding monogram, pair Allura with Cinzel; the tool’s “Text font” control sets it.

Allura (weight 400) is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits commercial use, embedding and redistribution as long as the font itself is not sold on its own.
