A diamond monogram is the circle monogram’s angular cousin: three initials stretched to fill a square standing on its corner, with the surname initial tall in the middle and the two side initials clipped into triangles. It reads well on square items (coasters, tiles, cutting boards, the side of a cooler) and on anything where a circle would look too soft. Letter order. As with any monogram where the centre letter is larger, use first-name initial, surname initial (centre), middle-name initial. If all three initials are the same size the order changes to first, middle, last, but the diamond always enlarges the centre so keep the surname there.
Fonts. The stretched style needs fonts with even strokes: Montserrat, Bebas Neue and Bungee are the safest. Fredoka gives a rounder, friendlier version for children’s items. Serifs such as Cinzel produce a sharper, more formal diamond. Scripts do not stretch well; if you want a script in a diamond, untick “Stretch letters to fill” and the tool sets the initials at normal proportions inside a diamond outline.
Sizing. The side letters become narrow triangles, so this style is more detailed than it looks. For adhesive vinyl keep the diamond at 2.5 inches or more; on a coaster (4 inch) a 3 inch diamond fits with margin. For a 12 x 12 tile use 8 to 9 inches. For engraving on a cutting board the SVG can be traced directly at 3 to 5 inches. For embroidery treat it as a fill-stitch block and keep it above 2.5 inches so the clipped corners of the side letters hold their shape.
