Cinzel Decorative adds swashes to the capitals of Cinzel. One decorated initial is elegant; three together get busy, so use it for single or two-letter monograms and keep the frame simple.
Serif capitals are the classic choice for two-letter monograms in a double circle, split monograms with a family name, and a single initial in a laurel wreath. They read as formal without being fussy. Serifs cut well from about 1.5 to 2 inches; the thin hairline serifs on Bodoni-style faces are the only fragile part.
